Guanajuato 2009

XIII NATIONAL CONGRESS OF BIOCHEMISTRY
AND PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
&
6th SYMPOSIUM Mexico-USA

November 9 - 13, 2009 • Guanajuato, México

WELCOME

Dear members of the ASPB and SMB,
branch of Cellular and Molecular Plant Biology,
Mexico,

It is our pleasure to announce the Congress Guanajuato 2009, which will be held in Guanajuato, Mexico, together with members of the American Association of Plant Biology. USA.

Our first meeting was in Morelos (1995), then Guanajuato (1998), Mérida (1999), La Paz (2001) and Acapulco (2003). Our geographic closeness, as well as our binational collaborative projects and common interests, merits the continuity of these scientific meetings in which we strengthen our relationships and develop new and productive collaborations.

On this occasion, the meeting is organized by Beatriz Xoconostle (bxoconos@cinvestav.mx), Roberto Ruiz (rmedrano@cinvestav.mx), from Cinvestav México; Rafael Rivera Bustamante (rrivera@ira.cinvestav.mx), Neftalí Ochoa Alejo (nochoa@ira.cinvestav.mx) Jorge Molina Torres (jmolina@ira.cinvestav.mx) y Raúl Álvarez Venegas (ralvarez@ira.cinvestav.mx) del Cinvestav Guanajuato, Eleazar Barbosa, Universidad de Guanajuato (josebar@dulcinea,ugto.com) and for the USA, Bill Lucas from the University of California, Davis (wjlucas@ucdavis.edu) and Leon Kochian from Cornell University and USDA-ARS (lvk1@cornell.edu).

We will address topics organized in plenary and simultaneous sessions, and it is our intention to promote the active participation of graduate students from both countries.

A service for child care and partial fellowships for students will be available. In addition, the hotel will have space available for informal meetings to promote the discussion and possible collaboration among participants.

We hope to see you in Guanajuato 2009, with the warmth of the Bajío countryside and the science from Mexico and the USA.

Sincerely,
The organizing committee
